CHILDREN’S DAY May 27 was marked as Children’s Day. The theme for the International children’s day was , “Inclusion, for every child”. Zaks Foundation for Humanity (ZFH) was well embedded with the children as they celebrated.
The education of the girl-child in Nigeria is very critical because it offers her the opportunity to chart her destiny with the skills and information she acquired from basic education up to tertiary education
Children are the future of humanity, but the odds, statistics and the grim realities sadly stare at us in Nigeria 🇳🇬: Challenges like poor family background, religious isolation, disability, early marriage, pregnancy, illiteracy, poverty, gender-driven violence, cultural discrimination are particularly common in the communities. Of the 36 million Nigerians under five years of age, 15 million are stunted, 2.8 million are severely wasted and 3O million are anemic, according to figures provided by the United Nations Children’s Fund or Unicef Nigeria therefore faces the danger of Stunted Generation, and ranks as No. 2 for Malnourished Kids in the world. 42% of children under 5 are stunted and 83% are anemic. Poor governance policies, climate change, global pandemic and conflicts have resulted in the country having the second-largest number of malnourished children globally after India. ZFH has, since coming on stream, provided Nutritional Assistance Packs to approximately 6000 households in the past four months in the North Central states. This was clearly demonstrated at Children’s Day Celebration when ZFH shared its Nutritional Assistance Packs to children, in addition to cash prizes to the first three schools that came tops in the Match-Past and cultural events. We have also been working with traditional institutions and Education Authorities in various communities to: increase enrollments of girls, put schools where girls can get to them, ease the workload of girls at home and training teachers to be gender aware. We wish to thank all our donors for their support and call for more donors to support and collaborate with us as we strive to end poverty in the world.
